Soneswar Rabha, a resident of Tea Garden-1i village in Kamrup district of Assam. Soneswar Rabha’s family consists of his wife, two sons and a daughter. Shri. Rabha is a beneficiary of ‘Improved Livelyhood through smallholders Homestead base Agriculture intervention project’ of APPI. Under the support of this project, he decided to try his hand at banana cultivation and planted 200 banana suckers of G9 variety in his land. Before he was reluctant to do it commercially, because of lack of technical knowledge and training. So, he was given training on Banana cultivation and marketing under the project.From banana cultivation he was able to earn a profit of Rs. 50,000/-. From the 100 suckers he received from Diya Foundation, he was able multiply 2000 more banana suckers and expecting an income of Rs. 2 Lakhs from these. Through dedication and hard work he not only excelled in farming but also became a successful entrepreneur, setting a remarkable example for others in the agricultural sector.
